Goodness. A lot has happened in the last few months.
Back in May I submitted an abstract to demonstrate a craft at the North European Symposium for Archaeological Textiles (N.E.S.A.T.). I never thought I would be selected to present. In August I received word that my demonstration on “Nalbinding with Non-wool Fibers” had been selected. Thus, I am now making preparations to make my way to Oulu, Finland the third week of May in 2020.
To say I am nervous is a huge understatement. This will be my first Academic conference outside of teaching classes and giving lectures within the Society for Creative Anachronism. I am normally frightened of public speaking. I seem to have no problem teaching a class, however. Someone pointed out the reason for that is in teaching the class I am participating in an interactive session, whereas, with public speaking the interaction is more one sided.
In addition to my posts for tutorials and research I would like to “chronicle” my preparations for the conference.Become a Patron!
